Q: When will the remaining books
of the Darkness Chosen series be released?
A: There are four books in the Darkness Chosen series: SCENT
OF DARKNESS and TOUCH OF DARKNESS, in bookstores now, and INTO
THE SHADOW and INTO THE FLAME, scheduled for July and August 2008.
Q: Are you going to write Gabriel’s
story from the Lost Texas Hearts series?
A: Gabriel has become an integral part of my next romantic-suspense
series, The Fortune Hunters. He's not in the first book, TROUBLE
IN HIGH HEELS (August 2006), but he has a walk on part in the second
book of the series, TONGUE IN CHIC. THIGH HIGH, book 3 in the series,
will be out in March 2008 and Gabriel is a very important character
in the story. So keep an eye on The Fortune Hunters! - Christina

Q: In MY FAIR TEMPTRESS, Michael is alive
at the end of the book. When are you going to write his story?
Are you going to write any more books in the Governess Brides series?
A: Sadly, not right away. I’m not under contract for any
historicals right now, but I would like to continue to write them.

Q: Is it true you’re writing a paranormal
series?
A: It is true. It's a four-book series called Darkness
Chosen. The first two books will be out soon: SCENT
OF DARKNESS will
be on the shelves in July, and TOUCH
OF DARKNESS will be on the shelves
in August. Make sure you visit my special Darkness
Chosen section to read the excerpts
and watch the videos! - Christina

Q: Where do you get your ideas?
I get ideas everywhere — from the news, movies, books,
friends, songs. There are so many ideas and not enough time to
write all the books I want to write. — Christina

Q: How do you decide which stories to write?
The best way I can describe the process is to tell you about the
paranormal series, DARKNESS CHOSEN. I watched one of my favorite
movies of all time, Fiddler on the Roof, and wondered why
it appealed to me so much. I was pretty sure it was Tevye's dedication
to his family, his God, and his traditions, and it was fascinating
to watch as, slowly, everything he believed in was overturned by
change. Everything, that is, except what mattered the most -- his
family and the bedrock of his faith. Then I wondered what became
of the family after they moved to America, and I began to plot a
series of books about the displaced children of the family, their
close ties to their parents, the process of adjusting to the new
life, and the terrible occurrences that could tear the family apart
if they let it.
At the same time, I was reading paranormal romance, which I
love (A WELL FAVORED GENTLEMAN was my first paranormal) and analyzing
why vampires worked so well as romance characters. I decided vampires
are the ultimate alpha hero. They only mate with the woman who is
their fate, and they can either give her the best sex of her life
- or kill her. They are completely in control of the relationship.
But vampires have constraints -- they can't go out in daylight, crosses
and holy water can harm them, and a skilled hunter can stake them
through the heart. I daydreamed about heroes who were more invincible
-- and at that moment, something happened. Hm, it's a little vague
in my mind, but I remember a blinding flash of light, the two ideas
meshed, and I had the concept for the series called DARKNESS CHOSEN.
I was absolutely enthralled as I figured out the epic battle of
good and evil that is the basis of the mythology, and I plotted each
book in a fever of excitement, taking care to make the romance between
my shapeshifter hero and my very mortal heroine the heart of the
story. I knew I had to write this four book series, and I hope you
enjoy the first two installments, SCENT OF DARKNESS (July 2007) and
TOUCH OF DARKNESS (August 2007).

A: Here’s

Q: How do you keep your ideas fresh
and avoid traveling over well-worn territory?
A: Story situations become clichés because they’re
the tales people want to hear over and over. When I start a book,
I try to think of the stories I’ve enjoyed, and use that
as a basis for the plot, giving it my own twist and my own characters.
The heart of romance remains the same whatever the story — one
man and one woman overcome great conflict to achieve everlasting
love. My goal is to remain true to that heart, and to tell the
classic stories in my own voice. — Christina

Q: What advice do you give aspiring writers?
A: The best way to learn to write is to sit down and do it,
of course, but I always advise writers to join Romance Writers
of America, a non-profit organization of 9000 published and unpublished
writers. They have chapters all over the US, a national conference
that takes place in a different city every year and a monthly newsletter.
I've been a member for eighteen years, and at the 2006 RWA National
Conference in Atlanta, I was privileged to be the luncheon speaker
and talk to twenty-two hundred writers. See
the photos. Join
RWA. http://www.rwanational.org — Christina
