Christmas Party! And a cannonbomb…

    December 13, 2019

The Husband: “At Christmas, was I the only kid who couldn’t figure out what a cannonbomb was?”
Me: ?
The Husband sings: “O Cannonbomb O Cannonbomb, how lovely is thy branches…”

When the Christmas rush gets to be too much, it’s good to take a moment to laugh with the people you love. Also (ahem) I totally relate since I was one of the kids who couldn’t figure out what an Elemenopee was. I’m sure you never had a childhood glitch like that. 😉

You’re especially busy this month, and I have lots of news and fun photos (make sure you scroll to the bottom for a Christmas joke), so let’s get to it.

Jayne Ann Krentz hosted some of the Seattle authors for a Christmas party. (click for more photos.)Top row, l to r: Katherine Stone, Kristin Hannah, Megan Chance, moi, Susan Andersen.

We ate, we talked (and talked and talked…writing is a lonely profession and we see each other all too seldom), and we ate. Did I mention we ate? Food and authors: it’s a natural pairing. My contribution: my mother’s candied walnuts. If you need a quick and easy something to take to a holiday gathering, these are delicious!

My Christmas music poll was so much fun, and the results are in! The big winner: 74% of you wanted to listen to Christmas music after Thanksgiving. Even more fun were your witty, intelligent, insightful comments. I read every one and collected a few of the highlights for you to enjoy here.

A new survey: My publisher is changing the title for my next thriller, set in Alaska. They want a title that clearly says Alaska and suspense. Family and friends brainstormed the titles; now we’re down to the finalists, and the decision rests with the sales department. I’m interested in the one that, when you know nothing else about the plot, intrigues you most. If you have a moment, please go vote on one of the finalists. Thank you!

I was interviewed in The Big Thrill Magazine about STRANGERS SHE KNOWS and the Cape Charade series. This is a big deal in the suspense-writer world. Enjoy a few highlights and the link to the article.

Finally, thank you to all of you who give and who receive. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, and I hope this year and every year you’re blessed with shelter, food, clothing and dreams that come true!

And books! And time to read!

P.S. If you’re too busy to read (horrible thought!) and looking for a quick, touching epilogue that unites the characters from the Lost Hearts and the Fortune Hunters series, take a moment to enjoy GABRIEL’S GIFT, starring one of my most beloved characters, Gabriel Prescott.

Gabriel must confront the demons of his past for a young girl to have any hope of a future, and discovers that, at Christmas, blessings sometimes come in disguise.
