Me: What’s that in the backyard flapping the bushes? :steps to one side for a good view: OMG, it’s a bobcat! Husband, come and look!
It’s been an interesting year up here on the mountain. In our backyard we have been host to rabbits (lots), deer (lots), all kinds of small birds, squirrels (lots), the bobcat, and a resident barred owl (who to my disappointment doesn’t quote Shakespeare. Get it? Baird owl… Never mind.) It’s like living in a Disney movie. If only the animals cleaned the house!
The bobcat was so bored by our excitement he sauntered away down the driveway (video). One of my clever readers suggested he must be a Wilder teenager from the Darkness Chosen series. And I took a video of the owl cleaning himself. So cute!
LISTEN TO FREE AUDIOBOOK CLIPS!
Audiobooks are the fastest growing sector of book sales, and many of you have begged for all my books, new and old, to be in audio.
I’ve been working on that, and I’m delighted to announce I sold my entire booklist to Brilliance Audio! Over the next year and a half, forty titles will be recorded and published, including my novellas and short stories. :beaming:
Even better, Brilliance is allowing me to pick the narrators, and they’re providing audio clips to add to my website. Listen to the first chapters and see what you think of my choices.
THAT SCANDALOUS EVENING, a Governess Brides historical romance prequel: A disgraced spinster returns to London society to chaperone her niece and finds herself face to face with the nobleman who ruined her life. But she is no longer a cowering debutante, as he finds out to his dismay…and delight. Humor makes THAT SCANDALOUS EVENING a reader favorite.
SECRETS OF BELLA TERRA, first in the Bella Terra Deception suspense series: Ninety years ago in the California wine country, a feud between two families brought death and disaster, and a cache of precious pink diamonds disappeared, never to be seen. Today, the two families still feud, the diamonds are still missing, and three brothers must find the clues to unravel the old mystery. This is serious; their beloved grandmother’s life is at risk. This is no time to fall in love…

BUNS AND ROSES LITERACY TEA!
On October 16th, 17th and 18th, let’s do something book related! I’m participating in Buns and Roses, a tea that gathers great authors like Meg Tilly, Susanna Kearsley, Eloisa James, Jill Shalvis, and Jayne Ann Krentz, and readers to talk books and writing while benefitting literacy. Because this year it’s a virtual tea, we can all attend.
Here’s how it works; you buy a ticket for the virtual tea on Sunday Oct. 18 2-5pm CT. (All the details!) During the tea, Jayne Ann Krentz and I will be virtually hosting a table.
To make your experience even more fun, on October 16th & 17th, there are add-on sessions that include author chats, cooking demonstrations, dance lessons, and Jayne Ann Krentz and I will be discussing romantic suspense and answering your questions. In our session, there are only twelve spots left; I hope to see you there and at all the Buns and Roses events!
NEW READING SURVEY!
I discovered that, since the COVID pandemic began, readers have drastically changed not only how they read, but what they read. Of course, I wanted to know more, so I created a survey for my readers. Please take a moment to click one or more of the answers, check the results and, if you wish, leave a comment.
Here in the Pacific NW, we’ve been dealing with COVID, choking wildfire smoke, and the days are rapidly getting shorter. In the South and Midwest, we’re been dealing with COVID, hurricanes and tornadoes. In Arizona we’re suffering with COVID and the hottest streak on record (over 30 days over 110 degrees.) And in so many western states, including mine, fires are out of control. …It’s been a year, hasn’t it?
That’s why when I take a break from writing, I check the survey results and read your comments; you’re insightful and you make me laugh. Thank you.
Until next time, read books, stay safe, and be well.
