Mallet, large knife, and squash; an author celebration!
January 21, 2020
In this newsletter:
— How authors celebrate
— Is it possible to have too much fun at an autographing?
— 2019…what a year!
Me to author pal Jayne Ann Krentz: “Congratulations! THE VANISHING jumped on the New York Times bestseller list *and* the USA Today Top Ten!”
Jayne Ann Krentz: “Right backatcha! Booklist called STRANGERS SHE KNOWS, ‘Dodd at her brilliant best’ and Amazon made it Book of the Month. Congratulations!”
Me: “What are you doing to celebrate?”
Jayne: “Chopping a butternut squash in half with a mallet and a giant knife and cooking it for dinner!”
Jayne: “I know how to party!”
😂 I promise, there was also wine in both our celebrations. I hope you’re celebrating, too, because THE VANISHING is the start of a new series and the fusion of Jayne Ann Krentz and Jayne Castle, we fans have been hoping for.
On February 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale Arizona, I’ll be autographing STRANGERS SHE KNOWS and other Christina Dodd titles with fabulous suspense authors Allison Brennan and Paige Shelton. We’ll be discussing our newest titles, then we’ll autograph your purchases and there will be a tea (with cookies!)
What if you’re far away? The Poisoned Pen ships both across the U.S. and internationally.
I would love to meet you there!
2019…what a year!
My resolutions for 2020:
— Don’t buy any new books until I’ve read the ones in my to-be-read pile!
Oops. Already too late!
Do you make dumb resolutions like that? My real resolutions for 2020 is to cherish my friends (like you!), pay less attention to the internet (I don’t need to know you make more earwax when you’re stressed,) read more, and write more. Those resolutions are not dumb. I am capable of all those.
Looking back on the 2019 book year is fun, because starting the first of January, I had four releases, new stories for the Cape Charade series!
Recap: 2019 Christina Dodd Book Releases in order!
Kellen Adams has fought battles, saved lives, earned the respect of her colleagues and the love of her friends. Now can she triumph against the greatest challenge of her life — her family?
(I’m very proud of this; the FAMILIES AND OTHER ENEMIES e-novella is rated five stars on Amazon!)
One secret, one nightmare, one lie. You guess which is which.
1. I have the scar of a gunshot on my forehead.
2. I have willfully misrepresented my identity to the U.S. military.
3. I’m the new mother of a seven-year-old girl.
Kellen Adams suffers from a year-long gap in her memory. A bullet to the brain will cause that. But she’s discovering the truth, and what she learns changes her life, her confidence, her very self. She finds herself in the wilderness, on the run, unprepared, her enemies unknown—and she is carrying a priceless burden she must protect at all costs. The consequences of failure would break her. And Kellen Adams does not break.
WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER is rapidly becoming an all-time fan favorite because of you-know-who. 😍
His new bride, Kellen, hovers between life and death.
A convicted serial killer threatens their child.
Max Di Luca goes on the hunt…
What would you do to protect your family?
(Proud again! The HIDDEN TRUTHS e-novella is rated five stars on Amazon.)
I have three deadly problems:
1. I’ve seriously offended a maniacal killer.
2. I just had a bullet removed from my brain.
3. My new daughter is growing up too fast—and she’s in the line of fire.
Living on an obscure, technology-free island off California means safety from the murderer who hunts Kellen Adams and her new family.… Or does it? Family time becomes terror-time, and at last, alone, Kellen faces an assassin playing a cruel game. Only one can survive, and Kellen knows who must win…and who must die.
For fans of audiobooks, the three Cape Charade suspense shorts, HARD TO KILL, FAMILIES AND OTHER ENEMIES and HIDDEN TRUTHS are out in one fabulous package!
Whew! That’s it for the 2019 recap. Yes, I have news about what’s upcoming, but first — my publishing anniversary is almost upon us. Thirty years! Imagine the fun we’re going to have!
Until next time, happy reading!
