A Winter Wedding Night Dream
Let me state for the record that this masquerade was Cal’s idea. Cal is Escalus, prince of Verona. I’m Rosie, daughter of Romeo and Juliet. The good news: this morning, we married in front of cheering crowds. The bad news: it’s the winter solstice when the Old Gods reign. A blinding winter storm roars through the city. When Cal suggests I disguise myself, escape from the palace and rendezvous with him at an inn where we can celebrate our wedding night, I change clothes in a flash.
As I travel the empty streets, a dog runs past, a tin cup tied to his skinny tail. By the time I rescue the terrorized creature, snow blankets Verona and I’m lost. When I find the inn, I discover it houses three hungry bears, a troupe of seven acrobatic dwarves, a woodworker and his singing cricket and a lovelorn prince (not my prince!) clutching a shoe.
I trust Cal will find me, but first…the Old Gods need someone to balance the scales between reality and fairy tale. Who better than me, newly anointed Princess Rosaline and the woman voted most likely to think herself smarter than everyone else? All I have to do is cook for the crowd, not get eaten, and eventually my prince will…well, you know.
A WINTER WEDDING NIGHT DREAM is a historical mystery novella with a romantic twist, ideal for readers who enjoy atmospheric settings, character-driven suspense, and seasonal storytelling. Part of the Daughter of Montague series about The Daughter of Romeo and Juliet.
