The Bed: Ye Olde Saga part 3

Me to author-friend Connie Brockway, “Movers come on Tuesday for the furniture going to California. The Husband flies down on Wednesday while I get my hair done. Thursday I fly in the afternoon and we get the third bed delivered. :cue the suspense music: Will it be the right one at last?”

And…here’s a photo of the master bedroom with everything in place…which should tell you what the result of the third bed delivery turned out to be.

After flinging up my arms in despair, I posted the first two parts of the whole ridiculous story for you. Just in case you need a refresher.

The Bed: Ye Olde Saga Part 1
The Bed: Ye Olde Saga Part 2

The Husband flew to California a day early to receive delivery of the (supposedly) California king bed and, you’ll be stunned to know, bed #3 was once again wrong.

He wouldn’t let them take it off the truck. The company could not believe that we’d rejected it. Finally one call center person said they didn’t even made that style in a California king, no idea why it was on the website that way…

😠

In an email, they refunded us the money that we’d paid (let us not talk about the inconvenience and expenses of extended car rental and changing flights) and sternly told us we had to return the beds and they should be boxed and easily accessible when the delivery people arrived to get them. Which at this point you have to admit requires guts.

Granddog Rocky can’t believe it, either.

They can have them. Bed #2 is in boxes in the garage and they’d have to send someone to take bed #1 apart since The Husband is a tad hostile after waiting seven weeks for what turned out to be an imaginary bed.

Also, we haven’t heard a word about anyone coming to get them.

My trainer said, “You could have your own reality show just about the bed.”

Ha ha. Yes.

What now?

I’ve ordered a California king bedframe from Costco. It looks nothing like the first one. I now hate the style of the one in the second bedroom. If that sounds like a toddler meltdown…yes, it is, and I’m owning it. We have 3-5 weeks to wait for delivery.

:cue the suspenseful music: Will Costco come through? I’m not saying for sure, but since the first of the year we’ve ordered three mattresses from Costco, a California king for our Washington house, a California king for the California cottage, and a regular king to go with the “free” bedframe. Costco has been perfect. They’re on time (or early!) the delivery guys are great, the mattresses are comfortable (to us) and reasonably priced (Beautyrest 12” silver medium firm.)

Keep your fingers crossed for us. Truly, most of this move has been one good thing after another and we’re grateful for that.

Flight attendant Jill made our flight fabulous and when I offered her a copy of A DAUGHTER OF FAIR VERONA, her excitement thrilled me!

The Husband and I understand the ordeal by bed is merely a glitch and someday it’ll all be behind us…

Although the sooner the better. The Bed: Ye Olde Saga Part 4 is coming soon. Pray that is the final episode!

That’s our lives. While I hope yours is more settled, we continue to be thrilled with the opportunity to own a tiny bit of the California wine country. After all, consider the romance of sleeping on a mattress on the floor…as if we were 20 again.

Warmly,
