Rae’s Dog has a Name!

    June 30, 2018

    In this newsletter:
    HARD TO KILL is #1!
    WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER…wait, her?
    — You named the dog!

Dear Ones,
We do know how to have fun, don’t we? I asked you to name the dog, and over 2019 of you voted, and a lot of you sent even more suggestions. I have the winning name, but being a suspense author, I’m going to save that for last. (Christina waits and whistles while you skip to the end and read the name. )

HARD TO KILL is #1!

The first Cape Charade e-short story, HARD TO KILL introduces you to Kellen Adams before she arrives at Yearning Sands Resort. She’s a soldier with unique intelligence, and a woman who hides terrifying secrets…even from herself. Amazon sent out a notice to my Amazon followers that HARD TO KILL would be out on August 1, and it zoomed to #1 in 90 Minute Mystery, Thriller and Suspense Short Reads. What a privilege to know that the Cape Charade series has already attracted so many fans!

I know many of you found the DEAD GIRL RUNNING bonus edition that included HARD TO KILL. :high five!: Whether you’ve already read it or are waiting to read it, you can:

Title Change

Several of you astute readers have noticed a title change in the next Cape Charade book. WHAT DOESN’T KILL ME has become WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER. My publisher decided WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER fits the women’s suspense market in a more positive way. For me, this means two important things:

1. Sales and editorial studied, discussed, and tweaked the title, and that means they’re dedicated to increasing the Cape Charade series audience. YAY!
2. I’m still able to use my all important first line of the book, “What doesn’t kill her had better start running.”
3. My publisher also decided against the cover they had designed (which I admit looked too much like DEAD GIRL RUNNING, so I’m very relieved), and the art department is redesigning it! This is huge and very unusual, so again — growing the audience!

Yes, yes, that’s three things. I’m an author, not a mathematician! Right now, I’m anxiously chewing my nails waiting to see the WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER cover re-design. When my publisher shows it to me, I’ll send it to you first.

…And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for!

The Dog has a Name!

Thank you to everyone who voted for a name for Rae Di Luca’s new dog! The overwhelming winner with 35.2% was…Luna! For Rae, who loves her, I’m sure her name will always be Bella Luna. Again, thank you. When you help with the stuff like names that are so important, it makes my job easier.

New Website survey

Finally, I’ve posted a new pop-up survey on my website:

Why do you visit my website?

My favorite choice is:
d) I occasionally make you snort coffee out your nose.

There’s a spot to make comments and I read them all. A recent favorite: “I love your historical more than contemporaries, but you know what? I love your characters and your writing is superb!! Thanks for letting me go along for the ride!” I read that to The Husband and said, “I have the nicest readers in the world!”

He agreed.

Until next time, happy reading!

P.S. Bustle.com put DEAD GIRL RUNNING on their “9 Beachy Murder Mysteries to Read on Your Vacation.” I’m a beach! (It’s not the first time I’ve been called that.)
