In the car: Jayne and Christina
start their excellent adventure!

Dear Ones,

My mother loved to read and when I was a kid, I was always begging her to read to me. No matter how busy she was, no matter how tired she was of reading my favorite book (Nancy Hanks of the Wilderness Road, a lyrical, folksy story of Abraham Lincoln’s mother), she would sit down with me and read. Of course, The Husband and I passed on her love to reading to our daughters. (The Husband would make up wildly funny and inappropriate rhymes for “A is for Apple” which made the kids scream with laughter.) There’s a lovely quote from Emile Buchwald, “Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” Thank you, Mama, for that priceless gift.

May you, your mother and your family have a lovely Mother’s Day.

Awards and Stuff

Now I’ve done it. After only sixteen full-length suspenses plus some fun short stories and novellas, RT Book Reviews gave me the 2018 Career Achievement Award for Romantic Suspense! I’m incredibly pleased and honored.

At the same time, Amazon named DEAD GIRL RUNNING one of their Amazon Best of May. Smiles all around!

Maybe best of all, a reviewer on Amazon gave DEAD GIRL RUNNING five stars and said, “This is going to be THE summer read!” Thank you so much! I’ve decided to adopt this as the official DEAD GIRL RUNNING motto.

American Library Association’s Booklist Magazine Interview

I was interviewed by the American Library Association’s Booklist Magazine, and here’s a tidbit:

1. In DEAD GIRL RUNNING, your heroine confesses to three things. What is something no one would ever believe about Christina Dodd that is actually true?

I’m tactless.

What? Everybody knows that???

Read the entire interview here.

Autographing photos everywhere

You know I’m currently on booktour across the U.S. with Jayne Ann Krentz. We’ve had two autographings, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips interviewed us at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville IL. I anticipated a book riot. It was that. More photos !

Today’s autographing (May 12) is at The Poisoned Pen Bookstore, SCOTTSDALE, AZ (think Mother’s Day presents…the store ships!) The last autographing is Tuesday, May 15, Murder By The Book, HOUSTON, TX. I hope to meet you and your friends. Watch the autographing page for updates.

Finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for — in the next newsletter, you’ll see the completed treehouse!
