View the Shimmer!

August 31, 2016

In this All Good News newsletter:

“You burned down his house!” Mrs. Butenschoen was almost dancing with indignation.
“What? I didn’t burn down anyone’s house!” Maddie looked around the circle of righteous faces. “I didn’t. I wouldn’t!” She looked at Jacob. “You know I wouldn’t. I didn’t kill you when I had the chance!”

The reviews are rolling in, and first and most important: readers who won Goodreads advanced reading BECAUSE I’M WATCHING copies have rated 4.53 stars. WOW! I’m thrilled.

Good news for librarians who purchase the books for their library and readers who have pre-ordered: BECAUSE I’M WATCHING has two new starred reviews from respected professional magazines:

Library Journal:
“Two emotionally damaged characters find hope, self-forgiveness, and love in this exquisitely crafted, modern version of GaslightA chilling and gripping tale, beautifully done.

Booklist:
“Dodd continues her flawless pivoting from romance to suspense… Scary, sexy, and smartly written, BECAUSE I’M WATCHING is Dodd at the top of her game.

DO YOU STAY UP ALL NIGHT READING?

So many of you have answered my reader survey on my website and told me when you get one of my books, you stay up all night reading. What a thrill to hear! Thank you, and if you want to prepare for the BECAUSE I’M WATCHING release, why not review with the Virtue Falls Readers’ Guides?

WHEN A TREE FALLS ON MY HOUSE…

It’s a new saying: when a tree falls on my house, the repairs go on forever. Which so many of you warned me about! The contractor said a week, my husband said two weeks, I said four weeks. I thought for awhile I was going to win. But no. It’s in week six, my husband was just on the roof cleaning off the moss (Me: “If you fall off, would you scream loudly? I need to go in and write,”) and he discovered an unfinished area. Apparently we’ve gone to home repair hell. Thank you to everyone who has sent me supportive comments and reminded me there are worse things than a tree on the roof. You are so very, very right, and hugs to you who are facing larger challenges.

Until next week, dear friends, my wish for you: as you slide down the bannister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way.

Warmly,
Christina Dodd
